Welcome! Home of the Clarksville/Montgomery County African American Legacy Trail. This trail is a downtown walking tour and county drive highlighting the contributions of prominent African Americans within the Clarksville/Montgomery County community throughout history, as well as significant places of organization, meeting, and worship.
Learn about and be inspired by the rich history of African American leadership, creativity, and strong community roots in Clarksville and Montgomery County.
The Legacy Trail is a FREE publication and was created for the community by citizens and students within the community. You can pick up a brochure around Clarksville—the Visitor’s Center, Burt Cobb Community Center, Customs House Museum and Cultural Center, Wilbur N Daniel African American Cultural Center on the APSU campus, just to name a few.
We’re releasing a new brochure in 2024 with many new additions, as well as an Augmented Reality Version. Click About here to learn more about the community of people who created the brochure and the AR version.
All donations are tax-deductible through Mt. Olive Cemetery Historical Preservation Society, the host non-profit overseeing the continued production and distribution of the brochure.
